The Microsoft Office Specialist (MOS) Four Nations and World Championship 2017 was announced last week with risual and Prodigy Learning collaborating to encourage students to take part.

The MOS World Championship is a global competition that tests students’ skills on Microsoft Office applications, operated and sponsored in the UK and Ireland by Prodigy Learning.

risual have opened five new Microsoft Academies in 2016 with another two due to open in early 2017. All students studying at these Colleges will have the opportunity to enter the MOS championships.

When students take a Microsoft Office Specialist exam in Word, Excel or PowerPoint, they will be automatically entered into the MOS Four Nations Championship and the big one, the MOS World Championship.

The Four Nations Championship finals will take place at Microsoft UK in June, where finalists will sit an exam in their qualifying category, with the winner being ultimately crowned based on the results. The champions of each category (Word, Excel and PowerPoint) will then represent the Four Nations at the MOS World Championship, taking place in Anaheim, California in July 2017.

Tina Jones, Director of Education at risual, said: “risual are passionate about ensuring all learners at our academies are having the opportunity to achieve a MOS qualification as part of their programme, recognising their digital literacy skills development in College.”

MOS certifications are a great way for students to not only develop crucial digital skills, but to also show that they’re accomplished and competent working within the tools and methodologies of Microsoft products.

Tina said: “The MOS qualifications are a fantastic achievement to add to their CV to enhance their employability prospects.  To have a learner from all of our colleges entering the MOS World Championships is fantastic and let’s hope we have a risual Microsoft Academy winner!”

risual have been advocates for apprenticeships and paving the digital skills divide in young people, which led to the establishment of risual Education.

risual Education recently opened their first London-based risual Microsoft Academy at the College of Haringey, Enfield and North East London, which proved to be a major success with 30 apprentices signing up prior to its launch.

MOS certifications can give students a commanding competitive edge in today’s academic and professional environments.
