SCCM ADRs – excluding updates

A customer of ours recently asked for some Automatic Deployment Rules (ADR’s) to be setup for patching their servers. They have a requirement to not apply certain patches to a particular group of servers. To enable this we created a device group and directly included the servers who did not want (in this example) .NET updates applied. After that we created the ADR using the usual wizard but when it comes to choosing the updates we need to apply a “-” to the title filter… so in this case I added “-.NET” to the Title:

 

 

So your Software Updates criteria should look something like:

Note without the Title option the preview (for this month) returned 435 updates and the first was a .NET:

With the exclusion, 318:
