How to optimise when you get into the Microsoft cloud

One of the frequently asked questions risual hear is how can you make the most out of the Microsoft Cloud?

“Azure is a comprehensive set of cloud services that developers and IT professionals use to build, deploy and manage applications through our global network of data centres. Integrated tools, DevOps and a marketplace support you in efficiently building anything from simple mobile apps to Internet-scale solutions.” – Microsoft

Our risual environment is hosted in Microsoft Azure, to ensure all employees within the business are working in the cloud. But our risual Managed Services (rMS) department had noticed through the power of data analytics, that risual were still spending a high amount of money but were unable to see exactly where.

At first, rMS tried a few simple things to see how it would impact the cost. The team tried Azure Resource Manager using the RBAC roles, utilising the Dev/Test labs where possible, Optimising Backup solutions, using PowerBI to identify a peak in spending early and to be aware of changes in spend, and more.

risual needed a solution to get back control of its spending.
The rMS specialists built a solution which they could deploy for risual allowing the company to gain insights into where they are spending money with Azure and why. Let us be honest, who doesn’t want to know where their money is going and what the purpose is?

The team developed an in-house solution called Azure Optimisation which provides intelligent information into the Azure costs and consumption. risual saw great benefits since optimising azure including huge cost savings, getting control over its spending, significant value to the business, and more. risual decided to roll this solution out to our customers, helping them get the most out of their Azure investment.

If you’re interested in finding out how Azure Optimisation can benefit and add value to your business, join Helen Staddon, risual Managed Services Team Lead, and Jamie Hunt, risual Managed Services Support Engineer on the Azure Optimisation Webcast which will be held on April 17th at 10am.
