Recently we had an issue when running a CRM 2011 setup , we got the following error on the System Checks page of the install “Unable to open the physical file "C:Program FilesMicrosoft SQL ServerMSSQL10_50.MSSQLSERVERMSSQLDATAMSCRM_CONFIG.mdf". Operating system error 32: "32(failed to retrieve text for this error. Reason: 15105)".”

To resolve this follow the below steps

  • Browsed to the following location “C:Program FilesMicrosoft SQL ServerMSSQL10_50.MSSQLSERVERMSSQLDATA” and delete MSCRM_CONFIG.mdf and MSCRM_CONFIG_log.ldf
  • Once you have done that if you re-run the setup again all works with no errors and the MSCRM_CONFIG databases get recreated  Smile
